The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has announced the 12 teams and game schedule for the opening leg of its milestone fifth season. The season will kick off with the Kalahari Conference group phase from April 5 to April 13 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco. The 2025 BAL season will feature a record six first-time BAL participants, including teams from Cape Verde and Kenya, as well as previous champions Petro de Luanda from Angola and US Monastir from Tunisia.
The participating teams are divided into three conferences: Kalahari Conference, Sahara Conference, and Nile Conference. Each conference will play a 12-game group phase where each team will face the other three teams in its conference twice. The season opener will see Stade Malien from Mali facing Rivers Hoopers from Nigeria, followed by Fath Union Sport from Morocco taking on Al Ittihad from Egypt.
Tickets for the games in Rabat are available online at Guichet.ma and at select physical locations. Fans who purchase tickets will also have free access to the BAL Fan Zone at the arena. Tickets for the games in Dakar, Senegal are also on sale now.
The season will culminate with the playoffs and finals at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa in June. Eight teams will travel to Pretoria for four seeding games followed by an eight-game, single-elimination playoffs and finals.
