Aside from the foldable Razr line, the Edge series is Motorola’s most well-known range of smartphones.
The Lenovo-owned brand has added a new model to the lineup in the form of the Edge 50 Pro, which has launched in India. Based on its specs and expected global launch, there’s plenty to get excited about.
However, what will happen when it comes to the other two models? Here’s everything you need to know about all three expected phones in the Edge 50 series.
When will the Motorola Edge 50 series be released?
The Edge 50 Pro launched on 3 April 2024 in India ahead of it being released on 9 April 2024.
Recent generations of the phone, including last year’s Edge 40 Pro, have made it to the UK and US, and we don’t expect it to be any different this time around.
There’s also uncertainty as to when, or if, other rumoured models in the Edge 50 series will launch – both Fusion and Ultra variants have been rumoured.

How much will the Motorola Edge 50 series cost?
So far, we only have official pricing for the Edge 50 Pro in India.
It starts at INR 31,999 (£305/$383) for the 8/256GB variant, with the 12/256GB model costing INR 35,999 (£343/$431) for the 12/256GB version.
However, those UK and US prices above are simply direct conversions – the actual figures are likely to be much higher.
The pricing of previous models gives us a rough idea of how much you should expect to pay, whether it’s for the Pro model or rumoured Ultra and Fusion versions.

What specs and features will the Motorola Edge 50 series have?
So far, Motorola has only officially announced the Edge 50 Pro in India. However, that phone is expected to be released globally at some point.

In the meantime, the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra are likely at a later date, so we’ve included key rumours about those phones.
It’s probable that multiple phones will be included in the Edge 50 lineup eventually.
As of now, we have confirmed specs for the Edge 50 Pro, but we’ve also found some rumours about the key aspects of the Edge 50 Fusion and the Edge 50 Ultra models.
Motorola Edge 50 Pro
The Edge 50 Pro sports a curved 6.7-inch pOLED display, including a peak brightness of 2,000 nits and Pantone-validated colours for enhanced accuracy. Notably, it includes a 50Mp front-facing camera with autofocus and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which is paired with either 8- or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. On the software side, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro introduces a new HelloUX interface built on Android 14, which includes the option for custom generative AI wallpapers.
For those concerned about software support, Motorola promises to provide three years of Android version upgrades and four years of security updates for the Edge 50 Pro. However, it’s worth noting that security updates will be released quarterly, rather than on the more common monthly schedule.
Additionally, it will be the first device to support Motorola Smart Connect, which aims to make using the Edge 50 Pro with other Motorola and Lenovo devices feel seamless. This includes support for external displays and easy data synchronisation.
On the rear, there’s a 50Mp main camera with OIS, 10Mp telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and a 13Mp ultrawide lens which doubles as a macro camera. Motorola’s new AI Photo Enhancement Engine should further improve image quality.
The Edge 50 Pro has a 4500mAh battery and fast charging capabilities, including 125W wired and 50W wireless charging. It also boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Available in Black Beauty and Luxe Lavender colours as standard, the Edge 50 Pro also offers a limited edition Moonlight Pearl variant designed by company Mazzucchelli 1849.
Motorola
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
According to Android Headlines, the Edge 50 Fusion will also feature a curved 6.7-inch pOLED display but drop down to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.
Benchmarks believed to be of the Edge 30 Fusion show it scoring a respectable 913 in single-core and 2,629 in multi-core Geekbench 6 tests. It will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is fairly typical for Motorola’s mid-range phones.
The device will apparently boast a 50Mp primary camera with OIS and 13Mp ultrawide camera on the back, while the front is expected to feature a 32Mp selfie lens within the hole-punch.
The Edge 50 Fusion is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery with 68W wired charging, though the charger may not be included in the box. Motorola ensures waterproofing with an IP68 rating and Gorilla Glass 5 for durability against shattering.
Available in Ballad Blue, Peacock Pink, and Tidal Teal colours, all featuring a textured back, with Ballad Blue having a vegan leather finish.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra
Android Headlines has also leaked the Edge 50 Ultra, and the specs appear to make sense.
It features a triple rear setup of 50Mp sensors, including a periscope lens for 5x optical zoom, along with laser autofocus and a triple-LED flash.
The Edge 50 Ultra is expected use the brand-new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and likely pair it with 8- or 12GB of RAM and a minimum of 256GB of storage.
The phone will sport a curved display with a centre camera hole punch, along with the new Hello UI based on Android 14, plus three years of OS upgrades.
The device will be available in three colours, including Peach Fuzz, the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2024. Unlike the Peach Fuzz and Black models, the Light Beige variant boasts a continuous, one-piece back, providing a unified aesthetic.
