A 22-year-old Thornton man accused of raping two women at gunpoint in 2022 may have additional victims in the Denver metro area, Aurora and Adams County law enforcement said Friday.
Jerricho Joseph Esquivel is suspected of sexually assaulting two women at gunpoint, one on Nov. 21, 2022, in the 15400 block of East 13th Avenue in Aurora and one on Oct. 22, 2022, near Acoma Street and Acoma Way just outside of Thornton, according to the Aurora Police Department and Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
He is charged with sexual assault, kidnapping, unlawful sexual contact and assault in the Aurora case. Charges are pending in the Adams County case.
Esquival used a black gun to hold the women at gunpoint during the assaults and neither woman knew him or had ever met him, police said Friday.
“Given (the) similarities of the two cases, investigators are concerned there could be more victims who either never reported they were assaulted or were attacked in another metro Denver city and reported the crime to their local police department,” the agencies said in a news release.
Esquivel is described as white; 5 feet, 3 inches tall; 145 pounds; with short brown hair and hazel eyes.
He was 21 years old and clean-shaven at the time of the attacks in Aurora and Adams County, according to the agencies.
