Arrest of Two Men on Magnificent Mile Leads to Recovery of Loaded Firearms
Chicago Police officers investigating a wanted vehicle on the Magnificent Mile made a significant arrest that led to the recovery of four loaded firearms, including a machine gun and a rifle, as per CPD reports.

Judge Mary Marubio ordered Davion Thomas, 21, and Erick Griffith, 24, detained as public safety risks on Tuesday afternoon.
Incident Details
On Monday around 3 p.m., officers were in search of a white GMC Acadia that had evaded the police and was believed to be occupied by an individual with a rifle. The vehicle was located in the 100 block of East Walton, close to the Drake Hotel.
During the investigation of the vehicle, Thomas was seen exiting a nearby store. Upon noticing the police, he fled the scene, clutching his waist. Thomas was apprehended in the 100 block of East Delaware, where a loaded handgun with an illegal machine gun switch and a drum-style magazine fell from his possession.
Thomas admitted to carrying the gun for protection and acknowledged the gun’s automatic firing capability. He faces charges for unlawful use of a machine gun and possession of a defaced firearm.
Griffith was observed discarding a stolen pistol in a planter on the 900 block of North Michigan. He was found with the key fob to the GMC in his possession. Within the vehicle, officers discovered another loaded handgun with an extended magazine and a short-barreled “ghost” rifle.
Griffith is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
