Man Sentenced to 11 Years for Shooting Woman on Red Line Train
A man, identified as Bobby Noblin, 33, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for shooting a woman on a Red Line train in the Loop while her young son was present. Noblin must serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for release.
The incident occurred on August 27, 2023, when Noblin and Latrice Harvey followed a 30-year-old woman and her school-age son onto a train at State-Lake just after midnight. An argument ensued between the parties, leading to a physical altercation where Noblin struck the woman’s son. The exact cause of the confrontation remains unknown.
During the altercation, Noblin pulled out a firearm from his waistband, prompting the victim’s son and another witness to flee the train. Harvey then cornered the woman and proceeded to physically assault her, even after the victim fell to the floor.
Prosecutors alleged that Harvey instructed Noblin to shoot the woman, leading to Noblin firing at the victim’s knee at close range before fleeing the scene with Harvey. The entire incident was captured on CTA surveillance cameras.
Noblin, facing multiple charges including attempted murder, ultimately pleaded guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm. Judge Timothy Joyce presided over the case and imposed the 11-year sentence, with Noblin expected to be paroled on June 9, 2032.
Harvey, 26, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and received a six-year sentence, with a parole date set for March 2, 2028.
