Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) and Thales have been in a successful partnership for the past 9 years, with Thales providing cutting-edge solutions at the Lusaka and Livingstone sites. Recently, ZACL and Thales have signed a 3-year agreement for the maintenance of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) solutions and radar systems supplied by Thales, in a bid to modernize Zambian skies and enhance safety measures.

Thales, a global leader in advanced technologies, will be offering comprehensive maintenance services for its STAR 2000 and RSM 970S radar solutions, as well as its TopSky-ATC system. This maintenance contract includes preventive and corrective maintenance, electronic repairs for radars, and software corrections for the ATC systems. Thales will also provide annual health checks, vibration analysis, and on-site visits to ensure optimal performance of the radar systems, along with preventive maintenance checks and operational support for the ATC systems.

Mmakgomo MOKGOHLOA, Thales Sales manager, and Mrs. Matakala NGOZA, Managing Director at ZACL, expressed their commitment to creating a safer airspace for everyone through this collaboration. The agreement aims to provide ZACL with a reliable and efficient ATM system, ensuring continuous air navigation services and enhancing air safety and airspace capacity.

With a dedicated support team and quick turnaround times for repairs, Thales will ensure that ZACL remains informed throughout the maintenance process. The partnership between ZACL and Thales is not just about maintaining existing systems but also about working together to shape the future of airspace safety.

Thales, with its expertise in Defence & Security, Aeronautics & Space, and Cyber & Digital technologies, is dedicated to making the world safer, greener, and more inclusive. The Group’s focus on innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies demonstrates its commitment to advancing technology for the greater good.
