The upcoming Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is generating buzz with rumors suggesting it could address a common weakness in compact foldable phones – battery life. Recent reports from China indicate that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will boast a substantial 5100mAh battery, surpassing the 4000mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and even outpacing the 4780mAh cell in the original Xiaomi Mix Flip. In fact, the battery capacity of the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 would even exceed that of many non-foldable flagship phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with a 5000mAh battery.

The advancements in battery technology, particularly the implementation of silicon-carbon (Si-C) batteries, are enabling manufacturers to fit larger capacity batteries into smaller spaces. This development is crucial for foldable phones, as the reduced internal space due to foldable technology has typically led to smaller batteries being used. The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 could be one of the first devices to benefit from this shift, offering improved battery life compared to its predecessors.

Earlier leaks had suggested an even larger battery capacity for the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, with claims of a 5600- or 5700mAh cell. While the actual capacity may be slightly lower at 5100mAh, it still represents a significant improvement in battery size for a compact foldable phone.

In addition to the impressive battery specs, reports indicate that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025. The device is rumored to be thinner (7.6mm) and lighter (190g) than its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Flip, and will feature IPX8 water resistance. The device will sport a 6.85-inch ‘1.5K’ LTPO OLED screen and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a popular choice for high-end Android flagship phones.

Camera-wise, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is expected to feature a pair of 50Mp cameras – one wide and one ultra-wide. This setup marks a departure from the original Flip’s telephoto camera and promises to enhance the device’s photography capabilities.

Overall, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is shaping up to be a significant upgrade in terms of battery life, design, and performance, making it a highly anticipated release in the world of foldable phones. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new device.
