RB Leipzig’s decision to sign Xavi Simons for €80 million last January seemed like a smart move at the time. The Dutch talent, a product of both PSG and La Masia, had shown promise in the 2023/24 season with 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances. However, a recent dip in form has raised questions about his value and importance to the squad.

Leipzig’s struggles in the Bundesliga, where they currently sit fourth, have only added to the speculation surrounding Simons’ future at the club. According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, Leipzig has now lowered their asking price for the midfielder from €100 million to €80 million, and they may be willing to accept even less.

Simons himself has hinted at a potential move this summer, mentioning that he still has “a lot of dreams” to achieve. Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool have expressed interest in the young talent, while Manchester City sees him as a possible replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. With Leipzig now open to negotiations, Simons could be one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming transfer window.

Overall, the situation with Xavi Simons at RB Leipzig is evolving, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next season. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
