The Department of Agriculture and Land in the Central Region, in collaboration with the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branch, recently organized a workshop in Asmara on October 31st. The main focus of the workshop was to encourage youth participation in agricultural development.
Mr. Asrat Haile, who heads the Agriculture and Land department in the region, emphasized the Ministry of Agriculture’s five-year strategic plan (2024-2028) aimed at advancing agricultural initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders. He mentioned that various theoretical and practical training programs will be conducted in collaboration with the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students to enhance youth involvement in agriculture.
Mr. Samson Kifle, the head of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branch in the region, explained that the workshop’s objective was to enhance the capacity and creativity of youth in agricultural development, ensuring their active participation in the national economic progress. He expressed gratitude to all those involved in organizing the successful workshop.
Mr. Saleh Ahmedin, the chairman of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students, encouraged the youth to actively engage in these agricultural initiatives.
During the closing remarks of the workshop, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, the Minister of Agriculture, highlighted that the program is in line with the Ministry’s goal of providing nutritious food for all citizens. He also urged sub-zonal administrators to play a leading role in supporting these efforts.
