As we step into the autumn-winter season of 2025, renowned stylist Themba Dlamini shares his expert advice on what to wear this winter. Dlamini, the visionary behind the South African Fashion Circle (SAFC), is revolutionizing the local fashion scene by creating immersive experiences that connect local brands with their audience like never before.

Dlamini’s journey into the world of fashion was not a conventional one. After struggling to find his calling post-matric, he eventually discovered his passion for fashion. Despite facing financial constraints that led him to drop out of fashion school, his determination never wavered. He went on to launch the sports-leisure brand Obafemi and co-own Oak Ave and Oak Magazine, styling some of South Africa’s most prominent figures and collaborating with powerhouse brands like Netflix, Avon, AFI, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

With a keen eye for blending classic elegance with a modern edge, Dlamini’s styling portfolio boasts an impressive list of South African celebrities and influencers. From Tsholofelo Matshaba to Thembi Seete, his unique approach to fashion has garnered him widespread acclaim.

Dlamini’s love for fashion stems from a deeply personal place, creating a safe space for him from a young age. He realized early on that fashion was more than just clothing – it was a form of self-expression that allowed him to showcase his creativity and individuality.

As we delve into the autumn-winter season, Dlamini predicts a surge in bold colors, prints, and natural fabrics, with a focus on supporting local designers. Brands like Boys of Soweto, Imprint, Thula Sindi, and Gugu by Gugu are at the forefront of this trend, offering beautifully crafted knits that are both stylish and sustainable. Isiqhaza, known for its innovative knitwear, is a brand to keep an eye on this season.

For women, trench coats, wide-leg pants, and layered accessories are must-haves for the winter wardrobe. Bold knit sweaters with unique patterns and rich colors are also a statement piece for the season. On the men’s side, knitted cardigans, statement sneakers, oversized hoodies, and tailored blazers are essential pieces to stay stylish and cozy during the colder months.

In addition to seasonal trends, Dlamini emphasizes the timeless essentials that every wardrobe needs. A well-fitted white shirt, a tailored blazer, classic denim, and simple accessories are key pieces that never go out of style and can elevate any outfit with elegance and sophistication.

As we embrace the changing seasons, Dlamini’s expert advice and timeless tips serve as a guide to curating a wardrobe that is both stylish and versatile. With his innovative approach to fashion and commitment to supporting local designers, Dlamini continues to shape the future of South African fashion and inspire a new generation of fashion enthusiasts.
