A tragic incident at a Walmart store in Canada has left employees and the community in shock. Gursimran Kaur, a 19-year-old Indian-origin woman, was found dead inside a walk-in oven in the bakery department of the store in Halifax on October 19. Her mother, who also worked at the store, made the heartbreaking discovery.
The investigation into Gursimran’s death is ongoing, with police stating that the cause and manner of death have not yet been confirmed. However, some Walmart employees have come forward with disturbing allegations. They believe that Gursimran was not alone in the oven and may have been locked inside and “baked to death” by another person.
In a video posted on TikTok, a Walmart co-worker named Chris Breezie demonstrated how the oven at the store works. She pointed out that the oven could not be locked from the inside and that there was an emergency latch for safety. Breezie, who is 5 foot 1, emphasized that she would have to crouch down to fit inside the oven, making it unlikely that Gursimran could have locked herself in.
Another employee named Mary echoed Breezie’s sentiments, stating that the oven’s design prevents it from closing on its own. She expressed disbelief at the idea that Gursimran could have accidentally locked herself inside. A stop-work order has been issued for the bakery and one piece of equipment at the store as the investigation continues.
Walmart Canada has expressed deep sadness over the incident, stating that their thoughts are with Gursimran’s family during this difficult time. The community awaits further updates on the investigation as they seek answers and justice for the tragic loss of a young life.
