The Ghana Police Service has made a significant breakthrough in solving a violent robbery incident in Wassa Afransie, Western Region, by apprehending three suspects connected to the crime. The suspects are accused of stealing gold worth GHS199,000 and other valuable items during the robbery.

In an official statement released on the Police Service’s Facebook page on Saturday, April 26, 2025, it was revealed that the arrests were made as a result of an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Western Central Regional Command. The individuals arrested have been identified as Felix Adjei (also known as Africa or Nana Adjei), Emmanuel Kelvin (a Nigerian national), and Kofi Appiah (alias Kesse).

According to police investigations, the robbery took place on April 4, 2025, when Kofi Appiah, a driver for Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited, was returning from Wassa Ayiem with colleague Emmanuel Adu after collecting gold from a client. The assailants, armed and hiding in nearby bushes, ambushed their vehicle, fired warning shots, and made off with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned in a nearby community.

Kofi Appiah was arrested at his residence in Wassa Akropong on April 21, 2025, following thorough investigations. His alleged accomplices, Felix Adjei and Emmanuel Kelvin, were later apprehended at different hideouts. During the operation, police recovered crucial evidence, including a Jojeff pump-action gun, a Calymm PDS pistol, various ammunition rounds, and GHS65,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the robbery.

The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. The Ghana Police Service has reassured the public of its dedication to combating armed robbery and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain security in the region.

This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing in combating serious crimes. The police have pledged to increase their efforts to prevent similar incidents and safeguard citizens and businesses from criminal activities. The authorities are committed to upholding law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the region.
