The New CEO of VRA on a Mission to Recover Debts
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has a new Chief Executive Officer, Ing Edward Obeng Kenzo, who has taken on a strategic mission to recover all debts owed to the institution. This move is part of a larger effort to strengthen the financial position of VRA and revitalize its operations as the leading energy firm in the country.
Since assuming office, Mr. Obeng Kenzo has been actively engaging with both internal and external partners, both locally and internationally, to recover all outstanding debts owed to VRA. His goal is to promote operational growth and strategically position VRA to sustain energy production and meet the energy needs of the people of Ghana.
VRA is focused on achieving growth and has a strong track record of operational success and profitability. In 2022, the Authority recorded a profit of GH¢110.893 million, as reported in the Auditor General’s 2022 Report. This followed a profit of ¢112.758 million in 2021.
According to the 2022 Auditor General Report, VRA’s total income increased by 34% to GH¢5.628 billion in 2022, up from GH¢4.199 billion in 2021. This growth was driven by a 38.7% increase in revenue from power sales.
Overall, VRA is on a mission for growth and sustainability, with a renewed focus on recovering debts, promoting operational excellence, and meeting the energy needs of the people of Ghana.
