The Bulls emerged victorious in a thrilling United Rugby Championship (URC) semifinal clash against the Sharks, securing a comfortable 25-13 win at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday night. The Bulls showcased their dominance throughout the match, taking a commanding 15-3 lead into halftime and withstanding a brief Sharks comeback in the second half to secure a spot in the URC Grand Final.

Their next challenge will be facing Irish powerhouse Leinster in Dublin, a team they previously defeated in the URC semifinals. Here are the key takeaways from the Bulls’ impressive victory over the Sharks:

### The Scrum

The Bulls asserted their dominance in the scrum battle, setting the tone early on with strong performances from Jan-Hendrik Wessels and Wilco Louw. While they initially struggled to capitalize on their scrum advantage in the first half, a late penalty kick from Johan Goosen extended their lead to 15-3 at halftime. Despite a more competitive scrum battle in the second half, the Bulls remained in control and sealed the win with a late scrum penalty.

### Early Turnaround

The Bulls overcame an early setback when a potential Sharks try was disallowed due to offside play. Capitalizing on the opportunity, Embrose Papier’s break from a lineout set up Sebastian de Klerk for a try, giving the Bulls an early 7-0 lead. De Klerk continued to shine, delivering a pinpoint cross kick to Canan Moodie for another try, extending the Bulls’ lead to 12-3. Their strong start set the tone for the rest of the match.

### Sharks Comeback

Despite facing three yellow cards in the first half, the Bulls managed to withstand the Sharks’ pressure near their tryline, preventing any points during their numerical disadvantage. The Sharks capitalized on a two-man advantage at the start of the second half, scoring two quick tries to narrow the gap to 15-13. However, the Bulls regrouped and pulled away to secure the win.

### Kicking Woes

The Sharks struggled with their kicking accuracy throughout the match, missing crucial attempts at goal that could have swung the momentum in their favor. Both Jordan and Jaden Hendrikse missed several kicks at goal, failing to convert scoring opportunities into points. In contrast, the Bulls’ kicking game was more reliable, with Johan Goosen and Keagan Johannes converting key kicks to maintain their lead and secure the 25-13 victory.

Overall, the Bulls’ strong performance in the scrum, early turnaround, resilience against the Sharks’ comeback, and efficient kicking game were instrumental in their semifinal triumph. As they prepare to face Leinster in the URC Grand Final, the Bulls will look to build on their success and continue their quest for URC glory.
