Uganda Bounces Back with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Tanzania in CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations

Uganda showcased a remarkable turnaround in their performance as they secured a convincing 3-0 win against Tanzania in the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The victory not only lifted the spirits of the Ugandan team but also put them back on track after their disappointing opening defeat to Morocco.

The match saw Richard Okello, James Ogere, and Simon Wanyama shine as they each found the back of the net to seal Uganda’s triumph.

Right from the start, Wanyama, Bogere, and Magala displayed excellent teamwork and created some exciting attacking opportunities for Uganda, allowing them to gain momentum early on.

Despite Tanzania’s efforts to break through the Ugandan defense, their lack of precision and decision-making skills proved to be their downfall.

Having suffered a 4-1 loss to Zambia in their previous match, Tanzania entered the game with a similar sense of urgency to secure a positive result.

The first half ended in a stalemate, setting the stage for an action-packed second half. Wanyama broke the deadlock in the 61st minute with a well-taken goal that relieved the pressure on the Ugandan team.

As the game approached its final minutes, Okello capitalized on a defensive error in the 85th minute to extend Uganda’s lead and put the result beyond doubt.

In the dying moments of the game, Magala converted a penalty awarded to Uganda, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory and solidifying their position in the tournament. Uganda’s crucial win propels them ahead of Tanzania in the standings, leaving the Tanzanian team with their campaign hanging in the balance.
