New Attorneys Take Over Case of Aurora Dentist Accused of Poisoning Wife
After his previous attorney withdrew just before jury selection, the murder trial of Aurora dentist James Craig, accused of poisoning his wife, has been delayed. Denver attorney Harvey Steinberg’s sudden withdrawal left Craig without representation on the day his trial was set to begin.
Lisa Fine Moses and Rob Gerald Werking from Arapahoe County-based LFM Defense have now taken over Craig’s case, as confirmed by Eric Ross, a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District.
Craig is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14 for a preliminary hearing to address new charges filed in the case. Trial dates will be determined after this hearing.
The 46-year-old faces seven felony charges including first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, solicitation to commit murder, and solicitation to commit perjury in connection with the death of his wife, 43-year-old Angela Craig. She died on March 18, 2023, from lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline.
Investigators allege that Craig purchased arsenic and cyanide before his wife’s death, searched online for information on poisoning someone, had an affair, and was facing financial difficulties.
Following Steinberg’s withdrawal, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office added charges of solicitation to commit murder and solicitation to commit perjury. Craig is accused of asking two individuals, including his daughter, to cover up evidence after his arrest.
