President Donald Trump has issued a directive to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to expand efforts in detaining and deporting illegal immigrants in the United States. Trump emphasized in a post on Truth Social that this operation would be the “largest mass deportation operation of illegal aliens in history,” focusing on cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York where many illegal immigrants reside.

Recent protests have erupted in these cities, with demonstrators marching towards ICE facilities to protest federal immigration enforcement efforts. Despite facing violence and threats, Trump assured his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mandate and providing full support to ICE officers.

In response to sanctuary city policies, the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against the state of New York over policies that prevent federal immigration officials from arresting immigrants at courthouses. Attorney General Pamela Bondi highlighted the impact of sanctuary city policies on public safety and federal authority.

Furthermore, Trump hinted at issuing an executive order to address the issue of illegal immigrants working in agriculture, hospitality, and other industries. He acknowledged concerns from farmers and business owners about losing long-time workers due to aggressive immigration policies.

Protests against ICE raids have escalated in cities across the country, with clashes between protesters and law enforcement resulting in injuries and violence. Despite opposition from state officials, Trump authorized the deployment of National Guards and Marines to maintain order and enforce immigration laws.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that rioters in Portland, Oregon, attacked law enforcement officers during a protest at an ICE facility. Secretary Kristi Noem warned that ICE will continue to enforce immigration laws and prosecute individuals who assault law enforcement officers.

In light of these events, nationwide rallies were held to protest Trump’s immigration policies, coinciding with a military parade in Washington marking the Army’s 250th anniversary. The DHS emphasized the importance of upholding the law and ensuring the safety of law enforcement officers in the face of ongoing protests.
