Trump Appoints Tom Homan as Border Czar to Oversee Immigration Policies
In a late Sunday announcement, US President-elect Donald Trump revealed that he is bringing back hardline immigration official Tom Homan to manage the country’s borders in his upcoming administration.
Trump, who has promised to launch the most extensive deportation campaign of undocumented immigrants in US history on his first day in office, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to share the news. He stated, “I am happy to share that the former ICE Director and strong advocate for Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration as our Nation’s Borders overseer (‘The Border Czar’). I have known Tom for many years, and there is no one more capable when it comes to policing and securing our Borders.”
Trump specified that Homan would be in charge of overseeing “all Deportations of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin.”
Homan, who previously led immigration enforcement during part of Trump’s first term, made a bold statement at the Republican National Convention in July, warning illegal immigrants released by Joe Biden to “start packing now.”
Despite his inauguration being scheduled for January, Trump has only appointed one cabinet member so far. He has chosen his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, whom he affectionately calls “ice baby” for her composed demeanor, as his chief of staff in the White House.
