White House Confirms Authorization of Mysterious Drone Sightings in New Jersey
Months of speculation surrounding mysterious drone sightings along the East Coast have finally been addressed by the White House. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed during a press briefing that the drones spotted in New Jersey late last year were authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Leavitt dismissed concerns about foreign adversaries being responsible for the sightings, stating, “This was not the enemy.” She clarified that the drones were authorized for research and various other purposes, with many of them being operated by hobbyists and private individuals.
According to the Pentagon, over 1 million drones are registered with the FAA for legal commercial, recreational, and government uses, which could explain the surge in sightings. The FBI received thousands of tips related to the drone sightings, but no national security or public safety risks were identified.
President Donald Trump had previously questioned the lack of transparency regarding the drone sightings and promised to address the issue upon his return to the Oval Office. The recent statements from the White House and Pentagon seem to fulfill that promise.
Overall, the drone sightings in New Jersey appear to have been a result of authorized flights and recreational activities rather than any malicious intent or security threat.
