Tottenham Hotspur has made a bold move in the transfer market by launching a £70 million bid to snatch Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo from under the noses of Manchester United. The offer, which includes £65 million upfront and an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons, outstrips United’s current proposal by a significant margin.

The driving force behind Spurs’ pursuit of Mbeumo is new manager Thomas Frank, who is keen to reunite with the 25-year-old Cameroon international following their successful stint together at Brentford. Frank sees Mbeumo as a key component in his rebuilding project at Tottenham and has made his signing a top priority.

Club chairman Daniel Levy is fully behind the move, eager to make a statement signing early in Frank’s tenure. Levy believes that Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, has the potential to inject dynamism into Spurs’ attack and showcase the club’s ambition to both rivals and fans.

Despite Tottenham’s aggressive approach, Manchester United remains a strong contender in the race for Mbeumo’s signature. Sources close to the player suggest that Mbeumo still favors a move to Old Trafford due to the club’s illustrious European history and long-standing interest in him.

United’s initial bid of around £60 million now faces stiff competition from Tottenham’s improved offer. Negotiations are expected to heat up in the coming days as both clubs vie for the talented forward, with Brentford poised to benefit financially regardless of the outcome.

As the battle between two of England’s footballing giants intensifies, Mbeumo’s future hangs in the balance, with his decision likely to have a significant impact on both clubs’ fortunes in the upcoming season.
