A 52-year-old steel bender, Kojo Senagbe, has been remanded into police custody after pleading not guilty to causing unlawful harm to a carpenter, Oliver Zinto. The incident occurred in Community 14 Annexe, Lashibi, where both Senagbe and Zinto reside.

According to Chief Inspector Belinda Asante, the prosecution lead, on May 10, 2025, at about 10:30 pm, Zinto was attacked by Senagbe while walking home. Senagbe confronted Zinto with a machete, accusing him of snatching his girlfriend. Ignoring Senagbe’s demands to stop, Zinto continued walking, leading to Senagbe inflicting multiple machete wounds on him, including his scalp, left ear, arm, and back.

Despite his injuries, Zinto managed to overpower Senagbe, seizing the machete and causing him to flee the scene. Zinto was provided with first aid and later received medical treatment, with the incident being reported to the Klagon Police Station. Senagbe was apprehended by the police on May 12, 2025, and admitted to the offence in his caution statement, stating that he attacked Zinto because he believed he had taken over his girlfriend.

The machete used in the attack was retrieved during the police investigation. Senagbe has been remanded into police custody, with the court setting a date of June 6, 2025, for the prosecution to file disclosures before the trial begins.
