Sundowns Head Coach Miguel Cardoso Emphasizes the Importance of Ambition in Pursuit of Betway Premiership Title

As Mamelodi Sundowns gear up for their upcoming matches, head coach Miguel Cardoso is urging his team to approach each game with ambition in order to secure as many points as possible in the race for the Betway Premiership title.

Currently sitting nine points clear at the top of the table, Sundowns are aiming for an eighth consecutive Premiership title. With tough competition from Orlando Pirates, who have two games in hand, Cardoso understands the importance of maintaining their winning streak to keep the pressure on their rivals.

Despite their recent success in the Caf Champions League semifinals against Al Ahly, where they secured a spot in the final with a 1-1 draw in Cairo, Cardoso is unhappy with the scheduling of their domestic fixtures so soon after returning from their continental exploits.

Expressing his frustration, Cardoso stated, “Surprisingly, our match day on Sunday has been brought forward to Saturday. Now we have a match on Wednesday, Saturday, and then again on Wednesday. It’s important that South African football authorities understand the sacrifices this club has made to uphold the country’s identity on the African and international stage.”

Despite the challenges presented by the congested fixture list, Cardoso remains optimistic about Sundowns’ chances in the championship race. He believes that overcoming these obstacles will only make the team stronger as they continue to fight for glory on all fronts.

As Sundowns prepare to face Richards Bay at Loftus Stadium before taking on Cape Town City, Cardoso’s message to his players is clear: maintain their ambition, secure maximum points, and push towards their ultimate goal of clinching the Betway Premiership title.
