The Stormers put on a dazzling display of attacking rugby as they secured a bonus point win over Cardiff, solidifying their fifth place on the URC log. The victory sets them up for a quarterfinal clash, the location of which is yet to be determined.

The match was a thrilling affair, with the Stormers’ wings stealing the show. Suleiman Hartzenberg and Leolin Zas combined to score four of the team’s five tries, showcasing their speed and skill in front of a lively Cape Town Stadium crowd.

Hartzenberg, in particular, had a night to remember as he celebrated his 50th appearance for the Stormers at just 21 years old. His two tries and overall performance earned him the well-deserved man-of-the-match accolade.

The game was not without its drama, as both teams saw red cards handed out. Cardiff’s Danny Southworth was sent off for a high tackle on Neethling Fouche, while Stormers’ Damian Willemse received his marching orders for a similar offence later in the match.

Despite some missed opportunities, the Stormers dominated early on, with Zas crossing the whitewash first to give his team the lead. Cardiff responded quickly, but the hosts regained control with Hartzenberg and Zas adding to the scoreline before halftime.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with both teams exchanging blows. The Stormers extended their lead with another Hartzenberg try, only for Cardiff to keep the game within reach with a score of their own.

A late try from Connor Evans, converted by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, sealed the win for the Stormers. Cardiff managed a consolation try towards the end, but a late penalty from Feinberg-Mngomezulu ensured the hosts left with a bonus point.

In terms of scorers, Zas, Hartzenberg, and Evans all crossed the try line for the Stormers, with Willemse and Feinberg-Mngomezulu adding the extras. Cardiff found success through Southworth, Hamer-Webb, Millard, and Hughes, with Sheedy converting two of their tries.

Overall, it was a memorable night for the Stormers as they showcased their attacking prowess and secured a crucial win heading into the knockout stages of the URC. Fans will now eagerly await the announcement of their quarterfinal opponents as the team looks to continue their impressive form.
