Stanbic Bank Ghana, as part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to human capital development, has made significant donations to three key institutions, totaling over GH¢500,000. The bank’s motto, “Ghana is our home, we drive her growth,” reflects its belief in investing in the people who drive national development.

Harry Opoku Agyemang, the Head of Personal Banking at Stanbic Bank, emphasized the importance of human development in national growth. He stated, “Driving Ghana’s growth isn’t just about financing businesses; it’s also about investing in the people who make the system work.”

One of the donations included GH¢100,000 from the 2000 Year Group to Mawuli Senior High School to support the refurbishment of the White Block, a vital infrastructure on campus. Additionally, the bank donated 10 laptops, two 85-inch high-definition televisions, high-definition multi-purpose video cameras, and 20 tablets to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) to enhance teaching and learning. A cash donation of GH¢141,000 was also made to the Ghana Police Training School to support training needs and capacity building for police personnel.

Mr. Agyemang highlighted that these donations reflect Stanbic Bank’s mission to empower institutions and individuals. He emphasized the importance of building people who will contribute to Ghana’s growth in various sectors such as health, security, and education.

In addition to financial assistance, Stanbic Bank also facilitates knowledge-sharing through initiatives like the Financial Fitness Academy. This program involves training personnel from beneficiary institutions on financial literacy, responsible spending, and personal financial management to empower them to manage their finances effectively.

The Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato, expressed gratitude for Stanbic Bank’s support and called on other private sector players to emulate the bank’s gesture. She highlighted the university’s challenges, particularly the lack of adequate hostel facilities to accommodate the growing student population. Prof. Aziato appealed for private partnerships to help address these challenges and enhance the quality of training offered by the university.

Overall, Stanbic Bank’s philanthropic efforts demonstrate its commitment to empowering institutions and individuals for sustainable national development. The bank’s focus on human capital development and knowledge-sharing initiatives reinforces its dedication to driving growth and building a prosperous future for Ghana.
