Stakeholders in Ghana’s digital and cybersecurity space have gathered in Accra for the Ethical Hacking and Offensive Cybersecurity Conference (ETHOCON 2025) to discuss strategies for protecting the country’s digital systems in an era of rapid technological advancement.
Cyber Resilience for Ghana’s Digital Leap
Organized by the Ethical Hacking and Offensive Security Centre (Ethosec), ETHOCON 2025 is focused on strengthening Ghana’s cyber infrastructure to ensure resilience in the face of evolving digital threats. The conference has brought together government officials, industry leaders, academia, cybersecurity experts, tech entrepreneurs, and policy advocates.
Expert panel discussions and thought leadership sessions at ETHOCON 2025 are exploring emerging cyber threats, national preparedness, digital policy direction, and the future of cybersecurity in Ghana.
Government Commitment to Cybersecurity
Speaking to the media, Osman Ayariga, CEO of the National Youth Authority, highlighted the government’s dedication to cybersecurity. He emphasized the importance of laws such as the Data Protection Act and the Cybersecurity Act in safeguarding Ghana’s online platforms. Ayariga also mentioned government initiatives like the One Million Coders Program and Innovation Hubs aimed at empowering young Ghanaians with digital skills.
He stressed that digital literacy, coding, and awareness of cyber risks are crucial for the youth to thrive in the digital age. Ayariga reiterated that government programs are inclusive and focused on reducing unemployment and enhancing security, regardless of political affiliation.
Building a Strong Cybersecurity Culture
Founder of Ethosec, Ashraf Saaka, highlighted the need for organizations to prioritize cybersecurity beyond profit motives. He emphasized the importance of strategies like Zero Trust to ensure end-to-end digital security. Saaka urged cybersecurity professionals to continuously update their skills and stay ahead of cyber threats.
As Ghana continues its digital transformation journey, events like ETHOCON 2025 play a crucial role in shaping the country’s cybersecurity landscape and fostering a culture of cyber resilience.
