The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr. Kofi Adams, recently represented Ghana at the 13th World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum in Istanbul, where he engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing global cooperation and investment. During the Forum, Mr. Adams met with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade to strengthen the partnership between Ghana and Türkiye, with a focus on key sectors such as technology, agriculture, industrial investment, and trade.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was Ghana’s request for Turkish Airlines to increase its flights to Ghana from 12 to 14 per week, allowing for two daily flights to Accra. This move is seen as crucial in boosting connectivity between the two countries and supporting Ghana’s goal of becoming a hub for trade, tourism, and investment in West Africa.
In addition to discussions on commerce and aviation, Hon. Adams explored opportunities for cooperation in the sports and recreation sector. He highlighted Ghana’s interest in leveraging Turkish expertise in sports infrastructure development, facility modernization, and community sports initiatives. These discussions align with Ghana’s broader agenda of using sports as a tool for youth empowerment, health, and economic development.
Hon. Adams also commended the efforts of Ghanaian ambassadors to Türkiye in fostering bilateral ties and creating opportunities for businesses from both countries. He specifically recognized the work of His Excellency Hüseyin Güngör, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Ghana, for his role in advancing bilateral relations and facilitating business partnerships.
The Minister emphasized Ghana’s readiness to provide a conducive environment for Turkish investment and expressed interest in tapping into Türkiye’s expertise in construction, technology transfer, agriculture, and sports development. He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to building strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with Türkiye.
Overall, Ghana’s participation at the WCI Forum underscores the government’s dedication to fostering international cooperation and investment. The country is keen on expanding collaboration with Türkiye across various sectors to drive economic growth, job creation, and infrastructure development. With a focus on strengthening bilateral relations, Ghana is poised to leverage Türkiye’s expertise and resources to achieve its development goals.
