Somalia Introduces New E-Visa Portal for International Travelers
Somalia has recently launched a cutting-edge e-visa system aimed at simplifying the visa application process for international travelers. This innovative platform, which went live on August 24, 2025, is expected to enhance border controls while boosting confidence among investors and business travelers.
Developed in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the e-visa portal enables visitors to apply for visas online, eliminating the need for embassy visits or manual paperwork. During the launch event in Mogadishu, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre emphasized that the new e-visa system reflects Somalia’s commitment to welcoming visitors from around the globe in a secure and transparent manner. Furthermore, the country launched its first NFC-enabled wearable payment device, allowing users to make contactless payments effortlessly.
