The heartbreaking event took place on Tuesday, February 23, 2025, as the soldiers were on their way from Bawku to Bolgatanga.
Reports indicate that the accident was caused by a burst tire, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The armoured car, bearing registration number 21GA39, reportedly flipped multiple times after the left rear tire malfunctioned while in motion. Eyewitnesses mentioned that the vehicle was on an official escort mission to Bawku at the time of the tragic incident.

Local residents swiftly came together to assist emergency responders and police personnel in rescuing the injured soldiers and retrieving the body of the deceased officer. The injured individuals were promptly taken to the Zebilla District Hospital, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.
