Sharks Prepared for Tough Challenge Against Zebre in URC Clash
As the Sharks gear up to face off against Zebre Parma in the United Rugby Championship (URC) on Saturday, the South African side is not underestimating their Italian opponents.
Currently sitting in fourth place on the URC log, the Sharks are set to host Zebre, who are in 15th place, at Kings Park in Durban. Despite their lower standing, Zebre is on a three-game winning streak, having secured victories against Ulster, Edinburgh, and Dragons in recent matches.
Following a hard-fought 25-22 win against the Lions, which saw them claim the SA shield for the first time, the Sharks are in good form with eight wins from 12 games. On the other hand, Zebre has shown resilience with five wins and five bonus points, putting them just four points behind the eighth-placed Lions.
Although the Sharks are favored to win, Zebre has struggled against South African teams this season, losing to the Stormers, Lions, and even the Cheetahs in the Challenge Cup. Despite their past record, the Italian side is determined to climb up the rankings and secure a playoff spot.
Sharks Aim to Maintain Momentum Against Zebre
At a press conference ahead of the match, Sharks center Jurenzo Julius, who recently won the Junior Springbok of the Year award, emphasized the team’s focus on the upcoming challenge.
Julius acknowledged Zebre’s recent victories against strong opponents like Edinburgh and Munster, highlighting the physicality and competitiveness of Italian sides. He stressed that the Sharks are fully prepared and will not underestimate Zebre despite their lower ranking.
With Julius’s standout performances this season, including three tries and impactful carries, the Sharks are confident in their ability to secure a victory and continue their push towards the playoffs.
