His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalawan, graced the 2024 graduation ceremony of the School of Business Studies Academy (SBSA) held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS).
The ceremony celebrated the success of 195 graduates, with 146 completing full-time programs including Diploma in Business Management and Administration, Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Human Resource Management, and Certificate in Administrative Skills.
A standout moment of the event was the awarding of the prestigious President’s Cup to Mr. Carlos Payet for his exceptional academic performance, exemplary conduct, and representation of SBSA. Ms. Laura Ally received the Medal of Academy Excellence for her dedication and distinction in studies. Other recognitions included awards for best effort in each program, outstanding performance, excellence in external examinations, governing board recognition, and the SBSA Most Resilient Learner Award.
In her speech, SBSA Director Mrs. Josianne Bristol praised the graduates, highlighting 46 who completed their programs with distinction.
“As we celebrate your success, we also celebrate your journey ahead. Your hard work, perseverance, and capabilities have been evident. Have confidence in your abilities as you step into the future. Remember, business is not just about profit, but also about people, leadership, and creating solutions that enhance lives. Stay ethical, resilient, and committed to lifelong learning,” she emphasized.
Mrs. Bristol concluded by expressing SBSA’s pride in the graduates: “The SBSA family is proud of you and wishes you the best. You possess qualities that will distinguish you in the business world and further studies. Embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead, let your values and determination lead you to success.”
The ceremony also featured an inspiring address by Mr. Darrel Antat, an esteemed SBSA alumnus, former lecturer, and current governing board member. Congratulating the graduates, he urged them to uphold the institution’s values.
“Take yourself seriously, trust in your abilities, and carry forward the core values of SBSA. Your individual paths may vary, but we all hold the keys to vast opportunities. Make yourself proud,” Mr. Antat advised.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Luigi Frederick.
Notable guests present at the ceremony included Minister of Education Mr. Justin Valentin, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Family Mrs. Marie-Celine Zialor, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Hon. Sebastien Pillay, principal secretaries, directors, members of the National Assembly, sponsors, lecturers, parents, and other invitees.
