Selena Gomez Responds to Calls for Deportation After Speaking Out Against ICE Raids
Selena Gomez, the beloved singer and actress, has found herself in the midst of controversy after sharing her thoughts on the recent ICE raids in the United States.
The controversy erupted on January 28, 2025, following the detention of over 1,100 illegal immigrants by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), sparking widespread outrage and concern across the nation.
Being of Mexican descent, Gomez took to Instagram to express her heartfelt distress over the impact of the raids, especially on vulnerable individuals, particularly children. In a tearful video that has since been removed, she shared, “I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children, I don’t understand. I wish I could do something. I will try everything, I promise.”
Following her emotional message, Gomez faced both support and criticism, with former U.S. Senate candidate Sam Parker going as far as calling for her deportation.
Responding to Parker’s comments, Gomez took a sarcastic tone on Instagram, saying, “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat,” showing her resilience in the face of the backlash.
