Highly Anticipated Clashes Set to Kick Off Match Day Seventeen
As match seventeen of the league gets underway, fans are eagerly awaiting two exciting clashes featuring rivals SC Villa and Express.
The showdown between the Jogoos and the Red Eagles will take place at Prisons Grounds, Luzira, with both teams looking to secure bragging rights in a match that may not have significant implications for the title race.
SC Villa, coming off a 1-1 draw with Wakiso Giants, currently occupies the 9th position on the league table with 21 points. On the other hand, Express, who suffered a 2-0 defeat against BUL in the previous match, sits in the 3rd spot with 25 points, trailing league leaders Vipers by 12 points.
Although Express emerged victorious with a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at Nakivubo last year, they have not managed to secure a league double over their arch-rivals since the 2013/14 season.
Meanwhile, at Nakivubo stadium, URA will face Maroons under the floodlights, with both teams eyeing a much-needed victory following disappointing results in their last matches. URA suffered a 2-0 defeat against Vipers, while Maroons were held to a 1-1 draw by Soltilo Bright Stars.
With Alex Isabirye’s side currently in 5th place with 24 points and Muhammad Ssenfuma’s team just a point behind in 7th place, a win for Maroons would see them leapfrog URA in the standings and potentially secure a league double over their opponents.
