South Africa Celebrates a New Dance Champion
The dance community in South Africa is abuzz with excitement as twenty-two-year-old Aimsley Fortuin emerges victorious as the Red Bull Dance Your Style 2025 winner. The electrifying event took place at Century City Square, where Fortuin showcased his exceptional talent and skills.
Fortuin’s win secures his spot in the World Final in Los Angeles on 11 October, where he will represent South Africa and compete against top street dancers from around the world.
The National Final featured 16 of the country’s most talented dancers, each bringing their unique style to the stage. From hip hop to pantsula, voguing to waacking, the competition was a display of diverse and innovative dance forms.
The competition was not without its challenges, as DJs played unpredictable tracks ranging from amapiano to house, keeping the dancers on their toes and testing their ability to improvise and showcase their flair.
Aimsley Fortuin’s Journey to Success
In an interview with The Citizen, Fortuin expressed his gratitude and excitement for his win. He shared that entering the competition was a spontaneous decision after returning from New Zealand and seeing a friend’s status about Red Bull Dance Your Style.
Before heading to the World Final in Los Angeles, Fortuin will embark on a tour with The Easter Show, performing in various countries including South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States.
Runner-up Angela praised Fortuin’s talent and versatility, expressing her confidence in his ability to bring home the win from the World Final.
With his victory, Fortuin has not only secured a place in the global dance scene but has also inspired aspiring dancers across South Africa to pursue their passion and dream big.
