The first-ever African Diplomacy and Business Dialogue (AfDiB 2025) has been announced by SALT University College (SUC) and is set to take place on 3rd September, 2025 at the premises of the Association of African Universities (AAU) in Accra.

This prestigious event will revolve around the theme: “Harnessing African Diplomacy for the Success of AfCFTA”, with the aim of facilitating constructive discussions and strategic initiatives to support the realization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objectives.

Organized by SUC, the inaugural AfDiB intends to bring together various stakeholders from government entities, diplomatic missions, trade bodies, academic institutions, private enterprises, and civil society to encourage networking, collaboration, and innovative solutions for promoting intra-African trade and sustainable development.

The event will kick off with a keynote address by Professor Lord Mawuko Yevugah, an esteemed Associate Professor of Political Economy and International Relations at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). A panel discussion will follow, featuring prominent speakers such as Dr Emmanuel Dei-Tumi, Executive Director of the Africa Future Leaders Institute of Global Affairs (AFLIGA), and Ms Helen Appiah Ampofo, a respected Broadcast Journalist with TV3.

AfCFTA, a groundbreaking trade agreement ratified in May 2019, is poised to create a unified African market comprising 1.4 billion people and boasting a combined GDP of $3.4 trillion once fully operational. The agreement is expected to significantly boost intra-African trade by eliminating tariffs on 90% of goods and reducing non-tariff barriers, thereby fostering economic growth and diversification.

The implementation of AfCFTA aims to shift Africa’s economic landscape from reliance on raw material exports to value-added production, catalyzing progress across various sectors including technology, agriculture, finance, tourism, and manufacturing.

SALT University College, the host institution for AfDiB, brings a wealth of experience in leadership and policy education. Established in 2003 and accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission in 2018, SUC is affiliated with GIMPA and the University of Cape Coast (UCC), catering to a diverse student body from countries such as Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and more.
