Lightning Strikes Cause Delays on RTD E and R Lines
The Regional Transportation District’s E and R Lines experienced delays due to lightning strikes in the area, although no direct strikes were reported, according to an RTD representative. The severe weather forced maintenance staff to temporarily halt work at County Line Station, impacting the regular operations of the trains.
During the delay, trains continued to run, but manual short-turning was necessary at Southmoor and Lincoln stations, leading to delays for passengers. RTD spokesperson M. Marta Sipeki explained that if lightning causes further disruptions, the E Line will short turn at Southmoor Station, while the R Line will short turn at Nine Mile Station. Passengers can transfer onto the H Line to reach their destination in the city.
The E Line runs between Union Station and RidgeGate Parkway Station, while the R Line operates between Lincoln Station and Peoria Station, offering essential transportation services for commuters in the region.
