Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has debunked rumors that he has been residing at the club’s training facility, Valdebebas, following his separation from his wife of 15 years, Mariana Luccon. The Brazilian icon, known for his illustrious career with the Spanish giants, was said to be staying at the training ground post his split from Luccon. The couple, who tied the knot in 2009, have two daughters together, Manuela and Mariana. Reports suggested that Luccon remained in the family home while her parents stayed at another property owned by Carlos.
The divorce proceedings have allegedly been complicated due to Carlos’ considerable wealth, which is estimated at £133 million ($166 million). Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Carlos vehemently denied the rumors, labeling them as “false and damaging.” He criticized the stories as an invasion of his privacy and an attempt to generate clicks at his expense.
“In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family. While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumors about my living situation,” Carlos expressed in his tweet.
He also expressed gratitude for the support of his fans and appealed for privacy during this challenging period, urging everyone to respect his family’s need for space as they navigate through the situation.
Carlos enjoyed a stellar 11-year career with Real Madrid and is considered one of the greatest left-backs in the history of football. He played a pivotal role in the team’s success, contributing to four La Liga titles and three Champions League triumphs during his time at the club.
Currently, Carlos holds the position of Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid. He also serves as a club ambassador for Asia and Oceania, a representative for the UEFA Youth League, and a mentor for the age-group squads.
As Carlos deals with the challenges of his personal life, he continues to remain an integral part of the Real Madrid family, contributing to the club’s success both on and off the field.
