Jose Riveiro, the head coach of Orlando Pirates, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Magesi in a recent Betway Premiership match. Despite acknowledging that they were fortunate to secure the win, Riveiro emphasized the importance of the result, especially in challenging circumstances.

Relebohile Mofokeng’s spectacular goal was the sole difference between the two sides, with Pirates managing to maintain a clean sheet against a ten-man Magesi team. This victory propelled Pirates closer to Mamelodi Sundowns in the league standings, with the club now just three points behind the reigning champions and with a game in hand.

Reflecting on the match, Riveiro admitted that it may not have been their best performance, but he commended the team’s resilience and determination to secure the three points. He highlighted the fans’ support and the team’s overall effort throughout the game, underscoring the significance of closing the year with a win.

Looking ahead, Pirates are gearing up for their upcoming CAF Champions League fixture against Stade d’Abijan at the Orlando Stadium. Currently placed third in Group C, Pirates are aiming to advance further in the competition and potentially reach the final. Mohau Nkota, a key striker for the team, expressed confidence in their abilities but stressed the importance of remaining focused and committed to winning every game.

As the team prepares for their upcoming challenges, Riveiro and his players are determined to build on their recent success and continue their impressive run in both domestic and continental competitions. With their eyes set on further achievements in the CAF Champions League, Pirates are poised to make a strong impact in the footballing landscape.
