Richard Parsons, former Time Warner CEO, Citigroup chairman dead at 76

Richard D. Parsons, a trailblazing figure in the business world and a prominent black businessman, passed away at the age of 76. Parsons had a distinguished career, serving as a top executive in major companies such as Time Warner and Citigroup, and playing a crucial role in navigating them through challenging times.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Parsons was known for his strategic leadership and ability to turn around struggling companies. He took the helm of Time Warner during a tumultuous period following its merger with AOL, helping the company reduce its debt and achieve sustainable growth. His tenure as CEO was instrumental in reshaping the company’s trajectory.

Parsons later played a key role in guiding Citigroup through the financial crisis, serving as Chairman during a time of immense challenges for the banking giant. His leadership was praised for leaving Citigroup in a stronger position than when he took over.
