The Biden administration has come under scrutiny for spending over $128 million of federal taxpayer money on gender ideology initiatives. According to an analysis by the American Principles Project, at least 341 grants were allocated to fund these initiatives.
The report, titled “Funding Insanity: Federal Spending on Gender Ideology under Biden-Harris,” highlights how taxpayer money has been funneled into what the organization refers to as the “Gender Industrial Complex.” The data was sourced from the USA Spending database, which categorizes federal agency grants and contracts.
The U.S. Health and Human Services Department led in funding with nearly $84 million distributed through 60 grants. The Department of State issued the highest number of grants, totaling more than $14 million. Other agencies involved in funding gender ideology initiatives include the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Education, among others.
In addition to grants, the analysis also identified 63 federal agency contracts totaling more than $46 million that promote gender ideology. The majority of these contracts were awarded through USAID, followed by the Department of Defense.
Some notable grants include funding to promote LGBTQI+ rights in Uganda, support for gender diverse individuals in Bangladesh, and economic empowerment programs for LGBTQI+ communities in Serbia and Jamaica. One grant, which has since been cancelled, allocated $600,000 to Southern University Agricultural & Mechanical College in Louisiana to study menstruation and menopause, including in biological men.
It is important to note that all federal funding for these initiatives was approved by Congress through continuing resolutions to fund the federal government and agency budgets.
The report sheds light on the allocation of taxpayer money towards gender ideology initiatives under the Biden administration. Critics have raised concerns about the use of federal funds for these purposes and are calling for greater transparency and accountability in government spending.
