Claudio Ranieri Turns Down Italy Manager Role to Focus on Roma Position

Former Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri, made headlines recently after declining an offer to take over as the manager of the Italian national team. Instead, Ranieri expressed his commitment to focusing on his current role at Roma.

After Gian Piero Gasperini stepped in as Roma’s new manager, Ranieri transitioned into a senior advisory position within the club. This move allowed him to continue contributing to the team’s success while also exploring new opportunities.

The decision came shortly after Luciano Spalletti’s dismissal by the Italian football association following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Norway in a crucial World Cup qualifying match. This unexpected turn of events opened up the possibility for a new leader to step in and guide the national team to future victories.

Ranieri’s return to Roma last November marked a significant moment in his career, but his tenure as manager came to an end at the conclusion of the season. Despite his departure from the managerial role, Ranieri remained grateful for the support he received from the Friedkin family and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity provided by FIGC President, Gravina.

Reports from Sky in Italy suggest that the Italian FA is now considering Stefano Pioli as a potential candidate for the vacant manager position. Pioli’s experience and strategic approach to the game could offer a fresh perspective to the national team and lead them to future success.
