Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson has garnered widespread support, with President William Ruto endorsing his candidacy. President Ruto praised Odinga’s proven track record as a pan-Africanist and expressed confidence in his ability to promote unity and progress on the continent.

Speaking at the Piny Luo Cultural Festival in Bondo, Siaya County, President Ruto highlighted the importance of African integration and collaboration for the continent’s development. He emphasized the need for nations to work together towards shared prosperity and inclusive growth, stressing that territorial boundaries should not hinder trade and investment.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who attended the cultural event as the chief guest, also voiced his support for Odinga’s candidacy. He underscored the role of African leaders in effecting meaningful change and called for unity of purpose among African countries.

President Museveni urged African nations to prioritize prosperity, security, and integration as key objectives for the continent. He emphasized the importance of revisiting historical priorities and working towards a united Africa free from artificial borders.

President Ruto announced plans to construct a fish landing site in Wichlum, Siaya County, to support the local fishing community. He also inaugurated the Nyang’oma Technical Training College Ramogi Campus, which will admit students starting in January.

Raila Odinga emphasized the need for African integration to facilitate cross-border trade, movement of people, and promote inclusive growth. He urged African leaders to honor the vision of the continent’s founding fathers by working towards a united Africa.

The event was attended by several governors and cabinet secretaries, highlighting the importance of cultural festivals in preserving heritage and fostering unity. The leaders present expressed their commitment to advancing African integration and cooperation for the continent’s development.
