Mamelodi Sundowns kicked off their Fifa Club World Cup Group F campaign with a fantastic 1-0 victory over Ulsan HD, securing an additional R36 million to add to their already impressive prize pot.

The overall prize money for the Fifa Club World Cup amounts to a whopping US$1 billion (approximately R18 billion), ensuring that all 32 participating clubs will benefit financially from their participation in the tournament.

Participation fees have been regionally allocated, with African teams receiving $9.55 million (around R173 million) each. Additionally, winning a match in the group stages will earn a team $2 million (about R36 million), contributing to Sundowns’ current prize pot of R209 million.
Even a draw in the group stages guarantees a substantial reward of $1 million (approximately R18 million), with prize money increasing as teams progress through the tournament.
Sundowns will face tough opponents in Group F, including German side Borussia Dortmund and Brazil’s Fluminense. Regardless of the outcomes of these matches, Sundowns will still walk away with significant earnings.
