The SA Cup final between the Airlink Pumas and Suzuki Griquas proved to be a thrilling and intense match, with the Pumas emerging victorious to claim the title on their home turf. The Pumas, who finished the campaign unbeaten, showcased their dominance throughout the game, ultimately securing a convincing win over their opponents.

The match got off to a rocky start for Suzuki Griquas when their front ranker Cebo Dlamini was red carded in the seventh minute for a head-on collision. This early setback forced Griquas to play with 14 men for the next 20 minutes, giving the Pumas an early advantage.

The Airlink Pumas wasted no time in capitalizing on their numerical advantage, scoring their first try just minutes after the red card. Hooker Eddie Swart crossed the try line off the back of a powerful maul, with Danrich Visagie adding the conversion to put the Pumas ahead.

Throughout the match, the Pumas dominated possession and territory, putting immense pressure on the Griquas defense. The home side’s forward pack set up two well-worked tries for midfielder Sango Xamlashe, extending their lead to 19-0. Despite a lucky intercept try from Gurshwin Wehr, Griquas struggled to contain the Pumas’ relentless attack.

Visagie continued to showcase his kicking prowess, adding penalty goals and conversions to further widen the gap between the two teams. Griquas managed to score a second try through Mnombo Zwelendaba, but it was not enough to overcome the Pumas’ commanding lead.

In the end, the Airlink Pumas emerged as the deserving winners, with replacement front ranker Dewald Maritz sealing the victory with a late try. The final score stood at 39-14 in favor of the Pumas, who showcased their dominance and skill throughout the match.
