The Proteas management team observes Springboks at alignment camp
The Springboks began their second alignment camp in Cape Town on Thursday, with an interesting twist as Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad and Cricket South Africa’s high performance management team joined in to observe the proceedings.
The Proteas management team shadowed the Springboks during the first day of their camp, gearing up for the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia in London.
In addition to the Proteas management team, the entire SA Rugby Elite Referees Panel also attended the camp to observe the day’s activities.
Season plan
Rassie Erasmus and his coaching staff started the day by emphasizing team values and discussing the areas they plan to focus on during the upcoming season. They held boardroom sessions with locally-based players at the team hotel, while overseas-based players joined virtually.
The Springboks are set to kick off their 2025 season against the Barbarians in Cape Town, followed by matches against Italy, Georgia, and defending their Rugby Championship title against the All Blacks, Australia, and Argentina.
Erasmus expressed his excitement about the team coming together and aligning on their objectives for the season. He welcomed new additions to the squad and highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration.
Learning from each other
Erasmus was pleased to have Conrad and his team at the camp, emphasizing the importance of national teams supporting each other. He believes that collaboration between coaches from different sports can lead to success on the international stage.
Inviting the Proteas management team to the alignment camp was aimed at assisting them in their preparations for the ICC World Test Championship final. Erasmus hopes to see more collaboration between national coaches in the future, emphasizing the shared goal of making the country proud.
