South Africa’s head coach Shukri Conrad expressed satisfaction with the Proteas’ preparations for the World Test Championship final, despite the cancellation of the opening day of their warm-up match. The team, having focused on limited overs cricket this year, had only one four-day game against Zimbabwe in Arundel to prepare for the clash against Australia in the global final.

Conrad highlighted the quality time the team had spent together since arriving in the UK over the weekend. Despite the rain disrupting the first day of their warm-up match, Conrad was optimistic about the team’s readiness. He emphasized the importance of the batters spending extensive time in the nets and commended the team’s ability to adapt quickly to different formats.

While acknowledging the weather disruption as not ideal, Conrad remained unfazed, stating that such challenges are expected in cricket. He emphasized the need for the team to make the best of the situation and adjust their plans accordingly.

Looking ahead, Conrad expressed hope that the weather would clear up in the coming days to allow the Proteas players some time in the middle before the Test final against Australia. He stressed the importance of the players getting valuable time at the wicket and the bowlers getting essential practice ahead of the crucial match in London on 11 June.

In conclusion, Conrad remained positive about the team’s preparations and urged the players to make the most of the remaining days before the final. The focus was on utilizing any available opportunities to fine-tune their skills and ensure they are fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
