The upcoming ‘Nine Hours of Kyalami’ event is set to be a thrilling combination of motorsport and music, promising a festival of speed, entertainment, and family-friendly fun. South Africa’s beloved rock band, Prime Circle, will be headlining the event, which is organized by the South African Endurance Series (SAES) and will take place at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 29 and 30 November.
At the launch event held at the Tempo Luxury Restaurant in Sunninghill, host Clauie-Grace Mpanza and broadcaster Prince Ndiweni introduced industry leaders, government officials, media, and motorsport enthusiasts to the exciting lineup. Alongside Prime Circle, the event will feature performances by Zakes Bantwini, Oscar Mbo, Sun-El Musician, Daliwonga, Mas Music, and Tamara Dey.
The members of Prime Circle, including Gavin Edwards, Marco Gomes, Dale Schnettler, Neil Breytenbach, and Dirk Bisschoff, expressed their enthusiasm for the event, with Dirk mentioning their excitement to witness the souped-up cars in the endurance race and feel the adrenaline of the speed on the track. Dale added that fans can expect an energetic rock show with a mix of the band’s hits, promising an unforgettable experience for the crowd.
In addition to the music lineup, the band also revealed that they are finalizing their new album, set to be released on the same day as the event. The anticipation for the new music adds an extra layer of excitement for both the band and their fans.
Beyond the motorsport and live performances, the ‘Nine Hours of Kyalami’ event will offer entertainment for all ages, including a kids’ zone with jumping castles and face painters, a flea market, a go-kart rental track, and a Virtual vs. Real competition. The Flea Market will feature various goods and food stalls, while the go-kart rentals on the Dynamic Handling Track will allow families to join in the racing spirit.
For tech-savvy fans, SAES will host a “Virtual vs. Real” challenge for the first time, with over 100 SIM racer teams competing against real racers in a synchronized nine-hour race on the same track. SAES CEO Wayne Riddell described the event as a milestone in South Africa’s racing culture, showcasing world-class talent and strengthening the country’s position on the global motorsport map.
Tickets for the ‘Nine Hours of Kyalami’ event are available at varying prices, ranging from R150 for Friday’s public areas to R450 for Saturday’s Fan Zone. VIP access, including meals and paddock entry, is available for R1,750, while the elite Private Lounge experience at Tempo Restaurant offers grid walk access and an exclusive view of all the weekend’s action.
