President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt recently met with Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, along with Head of General Intelligence Service, Major General Hassan Rashad. The meeting emphasized the strong ties between Egypt and Libya, with President El-Sisi highlighting the importance of Libya’s stability for Egypt’s national security.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting Libya in achieving security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He expressed full support for initiatives aimed at these goals, emphasizing the need for coordination among Libyan parties to create a political roadmap for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. The President also stressed the importance of preventing foreign interference and the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territories.

Furthermore, President El-Sisi commended the Libyan National Army for its role in combating terrorism and eliminating terrorist organizations in eastern Libya. Field Marshal Haftar, in turn, expressed gratitude for Egypt’s support in restoring stability in Libya and its efforts to assist the Libyan people throughout the crisis. He highlighted the historical bond between the two nations and praised Egypt’s expertise in development and the support of Egyptian companies in Libya’s progress.

Both leaders are dedicated to resolving the situation in Libya, restoring the country’s resources, and paving the way for stability, prosperity, and progress. The meeting underscores the ongoing collaboration between Egypt and Libya in addressing the challenges facing the region.
