Majority of Americans Approve of Trump’s Handling of Presidential Transition, Gallup Poll Shows
A recent Gallup poll has revealed that 51% of Americans approve of President-elect Donald Trump’s handling of the presidential transition, showing a slight increase from his previous transition period where 48% supported his actions.
Despite facing criticism for some controversial cabinet picks, such as former Congressman Matt Gaetz who later withdrew from consideration amidst sexual misconduct allegations, Trump’s approval ratings remain relatively positive as he prepares for his upcoming inauguration on Jan. 20.
While 45% of Americans view Trump’s cabinet picks unfavorably, 36% rate them favorably, and 16% consider them “average”. These figures indicate a level of polarization in public opinion towards the incoming administration.
It is worth noting that Trump’s current transition ratings still fall below those of previous presidents-elect, with approval ratings exceeding disapproval by a significant margin for each incoming president since Bill Clinton.
Despite his electoral success, Trump continues to face strong opposition from critics, with Gallup’s survey conducted from Dec. 2-18 shedding light on the mixed sentiments towards his transition and cabinet selections.
On the other hand, President Joe Biden’s approval rating as he prepares to leave office stands at 39%, according to the latest Gallup polling data.
This data highlights the diverging public perceptions of both outgoing and incoming administrations, setting the stage for a dynamic political landscape in the coming months.
