The Ghana Police Service has made significant progress in the investigation of the violent disturbances that occurred during a football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on 2nd February 2025 in Nsoatre, Bono Region. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the chaos that resulted in the tragic death of one person.
The suspects have been identified as Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph. They are currently in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation. A search conducted in the room of Agyemang Duah Owusu led to the discovery of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has personally extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC. He has assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident. To bolster the investigation, a special team from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters has been dispatched to support the Bono Regional Police Command.
The police have promised swift justice as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the violence at the football match. They are committed to bringing the perpetrators to book and ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.
