OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform has introduced a new subscription plan aimed at commercial applications in the engineering and academic sectors. Priced at $200 per month, the new ChatGPT Pro tier joins the existing Plus, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions.

ChatGPT Pro offers users unlimited access to OpenAI’s latest AI technologies, including the new reasoning models O1, O1 small, and GPT-4o, as well as advanced voice features. The subscription also includes O1 Pro Mode, which leverages enhanced processing power to tackle more complex queries.

OpenAI claims that O1 Pro Mode outperforms previous versions in machine learning benchmarks related to math, science, and coding. Jason Wei from OpenAI’s technical team believes that ChatGPT Pro will cater to power users who are already pushing the models to their limits in tasks like math, programming, and writing.

In the near future, O1 will be accessible through OpenAI’s API, introducing features such as image analysis and function calling for the use of external tools. Additionally, OpenAI plans to roll out web browsing, file uploads, and other enhancements in the coming months.

This move by OpenAI underscores the company’s commitment to commercializing its AI technology and staying at the forefront of the AI industry. With ChatGPT Pro, users in the engineering and academic fields can leverage advanced AI capabilities to enhance their work and research efforts.
